Miss Leakey is about to do the challenge of a lifetime. She is running in the Marathon Des Sables, which is a six-day, 251 km (156 mile) ultramarathon, which is the equivalent of six regular marathons. This tough race is held every year in southern Morrocco, in the Sahara desert. It is considered the toughest foot race on earth. Miss Leakey will start running tomorrow and we wish her the very best of luck!! We’re all cheering you on from here! :)
What a wonderful morning at the school. About 80 family, friends and local peole enjoyed tea, coffee and delicious home baking, followed by superb entertainment from the children. I am so proud of everybody who performed so confidently. What amazing superstars we have at our school.
Ms Banks :)
On Friday 4th April, we are holding a Tea, Coffee and Cake Morning in the school from 10.30am – 12pm, to which all parents, family and friends are invited. Please contact the school and let us know if you are coming. We have invited many local people too. Some children will be performing their Scottish Dance, which they performed at the festival; others will be reciting poems and the Strathdearn Primary School Choir will sing.
Please check your emails as the latest newsletter was emailed out today. Lots of important information and dates!
The newsletter can also be found on the Newsletters page of this blog.
At last week’s assembly, many children were awarded Silver and Gold certificates. Well done to you all.
A reminder that Achievement Points can be earned in various ways. Here are some examples – excellent effort in learning, great listening, excellent learning, acts of kindness, showing responsible behaviour, entering competitions, being helpful. Achievements outside of school are alos recognised, for example, taking part in swimming gals, brownie/cub/pony club camps and badges, martial arts awards, helping at home, doing something for the first time, new skills learned.
These are just some examples. We do recognise a wide variety of achivements and children are alwayds encouraged and praised for these.
Wow!! We have so many superstars at Strathdearn Primary!
Today, we won the Choral Verse Class, with a fantastic score of 87 (Distinction). Well done to all those children who were part of the Choral Verse group. A huge thanks to Mrs Pringle who spent time rehearsing with the children.
