Infection Control: 48 Hour Symptom Free After Stomach Bugs

Recently we have had a number pupil and staff absences from school.  Not unusual at this time of year when there are bugs and viruses doing the rounds.  So it is perhaps a good time to remind everyone about the Highland Council’s Infection Control Policy with particular regard to advice about returning to school after a bout of vomiting or diahorrea:

“Outbreaks of sickness and/or diarrhoea are a common occurrence in schools.  In the interests of controlling such infections, should your child develop such a condition, he/she should remain away from Nursery and School until they have had no symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting for 48 hours.”

In consideration for the health and well-being of pupils and staff, please do not send your child back to nursery or school before the symptom-free 48 hour period has passed.

Many thanks for your support in this matter.
